Christmas Season

The past 2 weeks the house has been full and busy.  My parents and brother came to spend the Christmas season with us.  It has been wonderful.

We built a snowman. Made Christmas cookies and fudge.

We went to DC.

Made a ginger bread house from a kit my friend Danielle mailed us.  Thank you Danielle!!!

For Christmas Eve we went to church.  Then after we went to Holiday Lights at the Beach.  You drive on the boardwalk along the ocean where they have light displays.
(A couple pictures before church)

Shortly after we got home, Santa made a special visit to Hannah.
She wasn't too sure about the big man, but enjoyed the Nativity Story.

Goodbye Little Plant

This past week we've introduced timeouts.  The first few times Hannah was confused, however she now enjoys sitting on the stairs (her timeout spot), haha.  Well most of the time.  We can't complain though because she's usually only on time out for removing the Christmas ornaments.  And really not because she removed them but because she did not listen.

Well today time outs have been abundant.  I placed a couple Christmas frames and a little church on the entertainment center.  She instantly decided they were hers to play with.  And now she knows they are not.  Then she decided she really wanted to give this timeout thing a go.  I have a potted plant on the fireplace.  I've yet been able to keep a house plant alive.  So when we were given it as a house warming gift, I was determined to see this one survive.  I bought the little water bulbs that self water (which are totally awesome).  When I went to Ca Sergio forgot to water it.  The poor thing was on it's last moments of life.  With a little water a new sprout popped up.  I've been nurturing this sprout for 2 months only for it's life to quickly end by the hands of a giant (well giant to the plant), purple, penguin wearing monster.  I guess the plant and I were bound to be defeated.

Silhouettes

I have always loved silhouettes.  When we took Hannah to Disneyland we got her silhoutte done.

I found these cute silhouettes online at http://lepapierstudio.com.  Some of my favorites:

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

There's something magical about sitting in your living room surrounded by your Christmas decorations and candle light while watching the snow fall out the window.   I don't think I've been to the snow since I was around 12 for my brother's 18th birthday.  Sergio reminded me that last year the snow did fall the night before we moved from Meridian, but we were busy packing and cleaning. Sergio said Hannah and him watched it while driving stuff to the dumpster.  This is really our first "home" Christmas snow.  It's just a whole different feeling watching from your own home by your Christmas tree than a cabin on a family trip. So tonight there was a lot of excitement.  Thanks to facebook we noticed all our local friends changed their statuses that it was snowing.  I had Sergio look out the window.  And when he said it was, I grabbed Hannah with all the excitement I could and told her, "It's snowing Missy, lets put on our jackets and go play!"  I can't tell you how fast we had jackets, hats, and uggs on....

So fast that Hannah's thumb is still stuck.  "Ah, Mommy, could you please unhook my thumb before getting the camera in my face?"

And now she can enjoy catching snowflakes!
Our little Eskimo who wouldn't keep her hat and mittens on, hmm.

Oski got to play too.

My Mini Snow Man

Although it probably won't stick by morning, I hope it snows more this winter, because I'm curious what it is like to live in the snow.  I could only wish it's always this magical!!!
